This rare example of an Imperial Russian Naval Jack features stitched panels, and measures 38″ x 18″, it is in a worn condition with some holes and marks throughout and features the original cord and toggle (please see photos). From 1720 onward, this design was used in the fortresses of the Russian Navy since 1701 was also hoisted as jack at the bowsprit of Russian military ships. The Russian jack features a red field with a white cross and a blue St. Andrew Cross. It was in use until 1917 when the Russian Civil War broke out and the anti-Bolshevik White Army continued to use it until their defeat in 1922.
