Mid Century Beretta Dimario Nude Oil Painting on Canvas – Film Actress Gaby Morlay Portrait

This original oil on canvas measures 65cm tall x 50cm wide, and shows signs of age and wear, with some marks here and there (please see photos). It is signed by Italian painter Beretta Dimario. The French film actress Gaby Morlay (1893-1964) and Beretta Dimario both lived in Nice, and were good friends. It is documented that Morley was an admirer of Dimario’s work, and even wrote a dedication of appreciation for his work. I believe that it is entirely possible that this is a portrait of Morlay – the age of the subject, and her features, along with the close connection to the artist.
