This beautifully art nouveau silver trophy is hallmarked as having been made by Jay, Richard Attenborough Co Ltd, Chester, 1910. The inscription says: “Darjeeling Gymkhana Races May 1912 Stewards Plate won by ‘Melody'”. The trophy has been sourced direct from a relative of the horse owner. It shows some scuffs/scratches and a couple of small denting marks. It shows what appears to be a date letter ‘M’ on the base, possibly an older trophy reworked by the maker? The letter appears to be for 1895. Please see photos for condition. If you would like more photos please get in touch.
