Antique Canadian Flag – George V Queen Mary Marriage Coronation Tour of Canada – RARE

£0.00

This printed Canadian flag is a very rare example depicting George V and Queen Mary. George V and Mary of Teck married in 1893, toured Canada in 1901, and were coronated in 1911, so I believe the flag was created for the Canadian celebrations for one of these events. It is a mystery why the flag uses an early 1870 Canadian flag design, a design used after Manitoba has joined the confederation, but before British Columbia had joined. Perhaps it was expensive to change the print design, or the makers thought people wouldn’t notice, or the makers hadn’t kept up to date with the design changes, or perhaps they simply thought people wouldn’t notice.

Measuring 84cm x 51cm, it shows some marks, and tears (please see photos).

Perfect for any collector or display.
